Eric Clapton's playing in The Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, and Cream set the pace for all who followed, and much of that groundbreaking guitar playing was done on Gibson guitars. Now, in conjunction with Eric Clapton, Gibson Custom announced the Eric Clapton 'Crossroads' ES-335 - a detailed re-creation of one of Clapton's most iconic instruments: the 1964 ES-335 he played in Cream. The Crossroads 335 was created from hours of painstaking research on Clapton's original 335, and the project received Clapton's full approval. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each guitar go directly to the Crossroads Centre in Antigua, an addiction treatment facility founded by Eric Clapton. This was an extremely limited release by the Gibson Custom Shop, with only 250 examples produced. Of this amount, only 75 ever left the US, with the remaining 175 guitars selling out in the US within the first 72 hours. Each instrument is hand signed and numbered by Eric, as well as including the certificate of Authenticity, signed by Eric and members of the Gibson Custom Shop responsible for the project. Saying this guitar is a collectors dream, is an understatement. The craftsmanship is truly something to be witnessed, no effort has been spared in replicating this amazing piece of music history.
