'The Custom Shop redesigned the distinctive Firebird to create a neo-retro axe with its own look. The body doesn't lean back. The headstock is non-reversed, and the pickguard is totally changed. Still, the Firebird shines through. Mahogany body and neck, exposed coil Burstbucker pickups, and Mini-Grovers.' An absolute stunner. This Historic Collection Non-Reverse Firebird has become somewhat of a shop favourite with it's quirky styling, but what has really won us over is how simply incredbile this guitar is to play and hear. Unplugged this 'bird positively sings, the one-piece premium mahogany neck and one-piece long-tenon neck give this guitar superb resonance and unbeatable tone. When plugged in it turns into an absolute beast, the Custom Shop Burstbuckers (#2 Neck, #3 Bridge) positively scream! And are capable of producing fantastic tones anywhere from creamy cleans to edgy overdriven bridge sounds and anything in between, all the time remaining clear and responsive to the player. This is a particularly special instrument and is definately one of 'those good ones' that come out of Gibson's Custom Shop every once in a while - that are just impossible to fault. A real players guitar.
